Stabilisation for an open book pelvic fracture

SAM Pelvic sling in Small is a force-controlled circumferential pelvic belt, designed to stabilise open-book pelvic fractures.
It has been scientifically proven in peer reviewed studies to effectively reduce and stabilise open-book pelvic ring fractures.

What is an open book pelvic fracture?

Open-book pelvic ring fractures result from an anteroposterior compression injury to the pelvis, where both the left and right halves of the pelvis are separated from the front and the rear. This type of fracture is serious and is usually the result of a high-energy severe trauma such as a vehicle or motorcycle accident. Immediate stabilisation of the pelvis post-injury is required prior to the patient being transported.
Major arterial damage and subsequent blood loss are associated with this type of injury. Stabilisation of the pelvic ring reduces blood loss from the pelvic vessels.

SAM Pelvic Sling in Small – Design

The first of its kind, the SAM Pelvic Sling has an optimised one-piece design.
The narrow and tapered front allows for urinary catheterization, interventional radiology, external fixation and abdominal surgery without removal.
