Burn Treatments

A burn could be the result of sun exposure, chemicals, electricity or heat and can range in severity.

In the first instance, put the burnt area under cold running water for at least 20 minutes.

Do not use ice and do not remove clothing or jewellery if it is stuck to the burn.

Ensure that your burn treatment kit is fully stocked at all times to assist with the treatment of burns.

If the burn has serious features such as blistering or very red, blotchy skin, the burn involves major joints, airways or the face, the burn has brown, back of white areas, the patient has difficulty breathing, or the burn was caused by chemicals or electricity, then immediate medical treatment should be sought.
