At LFA First Response, we specialise in high-quality snake bite kits designed to meet strict Australian safety standards. With around 3,000 snake bites reported annually, and 20 of the world’s 25 most venomous snakes found in Australia, the risk is real for workplaces, schools, and facilities near bushland or regional areas.
Our range includes everything from compact, portable kits to fully equipped premium solutions, each designed to treat both snake and funnel-web spider bites, helping you stay prepared for any emergency.
With fast shipping, competitive pricing, and expert customer service, LFA First Response is your trusted partner in first aid preparedness.
A snake bite kit is an essential first aid tool for rapid response to venomous bites. Our Premium Snake Bite Kit also includes critical components to manage funnel-web spider bites, offering complete protection in one convenient pack.
Why do you need a kit? Snake bite medical kits are specifically created to help slow the spread of venom through the lymphatic system using the Pressure Immobilisation Technique (PIT). They provide initial care that buys critical time until professional medical assistance arrives.
Correctly applying the Pressure Immobilisation Technique (PIT) can dramatically slow the spread of venom, but many people apply it incorrectly without the right training or tools. Purpose-built snake bite medical kits with indicator bandages take the guesswork out, helping ensure the technique is applied effectively when it matters most.
Snake bite kits are carefully designed to include essential items for effective treatment using the Pressure Immobilisation Technique. While specific contents may vary, most snake bite medical kits options include:
Indicator compression bandages: Wide, heavyweight snake bite bandages with stretch indicators showing when correct pressure is applied. These are essential, standard crepe bandages that are too narrow and provide inconsistent compression.
Additional conforming bandages: For wrapping the entire affected limb from fingers or toes upward toward the body. Browse our full range of conforming bandages.
Triangular bandages: Used for immobilisation, slings, and securing splints.
Rigid splints: To completely immobilise the bitten limb and prevent muscle movement that pumps venom through the lymphatic system.
Personal protective equipment (PPE): Disposable gloves and other latex-free materials to protect the first aider during treatment.
Non-adherent dressings: To protect the bite site without causing further irritation.
Permanent marker: To mark the bite site location and record the time on the bandage.
Emergency instruction card: Clear, step-by-step PIT guidance for use under pressure, critical when stress affects decision-making.
For more information on bandage types and applications, see our guide on exploring different types of bandages.
All snake bites and funnel-web spider bites must be treated as life-threatening emergencies. Do not wait for symptoms to appear; venom effects can be delayed, and by the time signs develop, significant envenomation may have occurred.
Call 000 immediately: Request an ambulance. In remote areas, activate your emergency beacon or contact the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Keep the person completely still: Lie them down and keep them calm. Any movement accelerates venom spread through the lymphatic system.
Do NOT wash the bite site: Venom residue on the skin helps hospital staff identify the species and select the correct antivenom.
Apply a pressure bandage over the bite: Use a snake bite bandage with an indicator if available. Bandage firmly, as tight as you would for a sprained ankle, but not so tight it cuts off blood circulation.
Bandage the entire limb: Starting from fingers or toes, wrap upward toward the body, covering as much of the limb as possible.
Splint and immobilise: Apply a rigid splint to prevent any limb movement whatsoever.
Mark the bite site: Circle the bite location on the outside of the bandage with a pen. Note the time.
Stay with the patient: Monitor breathing and consciousness. Do not remove bandages until medical professionals arrive, even if symptoms seem to improve.
Do NOT cut the bite or attempt to suck out venom
Do NOT apply an arterial tourniquet
Do NOT wash the bite area
Do NOT let the patient walk or move
Do NOT try to catch or kill the snake or spider
Important: The Pressure Immobilisation Technique is recommended for all Australian snake bites and funnel-web spider bites. However, PIT is NOT recommended for redback spider bites; apply a cold pack and seek medical attention instead.
Immediate emergency response: Snake bite first aid kits provide the essential tools needed to treat bites immediately, slowing venom spread and stabilising the patient while help is on the way.
Designed specifically for Australian conditions: Australia's venomous snakes and spiders present unique risks not found elsewhere. Our snake bite medical kits are purpose-built for these hazards, not generic overseas products.
Correct equipment for correct technique: Standard first aid kits don't contain the wide indicator bandages and splints needed for effective PIT. A snake bite kit removes the guesswork and gives first aiders confidence.
Compact and portable: With durable softpack cases and clearly organised contents, our snake bite kits are easy to store in vehicles, carry into the field, or mount in accessible locations.
Meets workplace compliance requirements: Under WHS legislation, employers must provide first aid facilities appropriate to workplace hazards. For sites where venomous snake or spider encounters are foreseeable, dedicated snake bite first aid kits form part of your compliance obligations.
Peace of mind: Knowing you have the right equipment, and that your team knows how to use it, provides genuine reassurance that you're prepared for the unexpected.
Snake bite kits are essential for schools, childcare centres, and universities, particularly those near bushland or in regional areas. Staff need to respond quickly to incidents during outdoor play, excursions, sports carnivals, or activities in vegetated areas. With children more vulnerable to envenomation due to their smaller body size, having snake bite first aid kit supplies on hand is critical. See our range of school first aid kits for education-specific solutions.
Farms, construction sites, mining operations, and other workplaces in rural, regional, or bushland-adjacent areas face genuine snake and spider encounter risks. Workers in the Pilbara, Goldfields, and agricultural regions across WA encounter Dugites, Western Browns, Mulgas, and Tiger Snakes regularly, particularly during warmer months. A properly stocked snake bite medical kit at each work location protects your people and demonstrates your duty of care.
Parks, reserves, depots, outdoor maintenance crews, and ranger teams all operate in environments where venomous snakes and spiders are present. Councils responsible for public spaces need snake bite kits accessible at multiple locations, not just the head office. Fast access to first aid equipment can make the difference when an incident occurs in the field.
Medical facilities use snake bite first aid kit supplies as part of their emergency preparedness protocols. Even with clinical capabilities on-site, having dedicated snake bite kits ensures immediate PIT application while preparing for further intervention or patient transfer.
Facilities in remote areas, exploration camps, caravan parks, pastoral stations, roadhouses, and tourist operations often sit hours from the nearest hospital. When emergency services can't arrive quickly, a snake bite kit on-site becomes genuinely life-saving. In these settings, multiple snake bite first aid kits positioned across the property may be necessary.
Sporting clubs, outdoor festivals, community events, and recreation facilities in snake-prone areas benefit from having snake bite kits included in their event medical supplies. Our general-purpose first aid kits can be supplemented with dedicated snake bite modules.
Our snake bite kits contain TGA-registered products from reputable Australian manufacturers, including Aero Healthcare. We supply proper indicator bandages designed for PIT, not generic alternatives that compromise effectiveness.
With stock held in Western Australia and New South Wales, we dispatch quickly to metro Perth, regional WA, and across the country. Remote mining sites and pastoral properties are no problem.
Our team understands the difference between tick-box compliance and genuine preparedness. We'll help you select the right snake bite first aid kit for your environment, workforce size, and risk profile.

Standard workplace first aid kits typically don't contain the specific items needed for snake bite treatment. Snake bite medical kits include wider, longer indicator bandages designed for full-limb compression, rigid splints for immobilisation, and clear PIT instructions. A generic 7.5cm crepe bandage is too short and narrow for effective pressure immobilisation. Purpose-built snake bite kit supplies give first aiders the correct tools for the correct technique.
No. The Pressure Immobilisation Technique applies to both snake bites and funnel-web spider bites, so the same snake bite kit works for both. Our snake and spider bite kit is designed to address all Australian bites where PIT is the recommended first aid response. Note that PIT is not used for redback spider bites; cold packs and medical attention are the appropriate response for redbacks.
Under the Work Health and Safety Act, employers must provide first aid facilities appropriate to the nature of work and hazards present. If your workplace is in an area where snake or spider encounters are reasonably foreseeable, dedicated snake bite kits should form part of your first aid provisions. Failure to provide adequate equipment could constitute a breach of your duty of care and expose your organisation to liability.
This depends on your site size, workforce numbers, and the distance between work areas. As a guide, snake bite kits should be accessible within a few minutes from any location where an encounter could occur. Large sites, remote operations, and facilities with multiple buildings may need several kits positioned strategically. Contact our team for site-specific advice.
Inspect your snake bite kits at least every six months, more frequently in harsh environments. Check that bandages remain sealed and undamaged, gloves haven't perished, instruction cards are present, and nothing has been removed or used. Replace any items past their expiry date. LFA First Response offers individual components and wound management supplies to keep your snake bite kits fully stocked.
